Police encourage the use of seatbelts and child safety seats and conducted stops recently as part of Buckle Up NY: On November 14 , 11 tickets were issued on Clinton Rd.; on November 15, 11 tickets on Nassau Blvd., on November 17, 14 tickets on Brompton Rd., on November 18, 23 tickets on Clinton Rd. and on November 21, 27 tickets on Nassau Blvd... Between November 17 and 18, a rock was thrown through a basement window at a Meadow Street house and there was $200 in damage... During the same period of time, a glass window was broken at Stratford School, 2 front door sconces valued at $1000 were damaged at a Stratford Avenue residence, and a window was found broken at a Euston Rd. house... On November 17 , 2 appearance tickets were issued to a Meadow Street resident who was blasting loud music there... On November 19 , 3:55 a.m., PO Florio arrested a 29-year-old Lindenhurst man for alleged speeding, alleged DWI (.12%) and for unsafe lane change... On November 18 , 4 a.m., at Rockaway Ave./First St., PO Dallolio arrested a 22-year-old Hempstead man for alleged DWI (refusal), for alleged unsafe lane change, unlicensed operation, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, alleged speeding, and for an outstanding GC warrant for cell phone... On November 12 , a woman called police because someone was shooting at her car on Rockaway Avenue. After an investigation, police stopped a car on Jericho Tpke., and arrested 3 men who had been shooting a bb gun. The first man, a 19-year-old from Floral Park, was arrested for criminal mischief( for shooting out the woman's rear windows) and for the criminal possession of a weapon. The second man, a 20-year-old from Floral Park, was arrested on the same charges. A third man was underage...Detective Barone arrested a 49-year-old GC man after he painted a neighbor's fence on Meadow Street, on November 16. The charge was felony criminal mischief... A truck stop was held on NHP Rd. on November 15 with 11 trucks inspected; 3 trucks taken out of service, 1 for overweight; and 71 miscellaneous tickets issued... Two GC underage girls were issued appearance tickets for the possession of malt liquor on November 11...

An oil leak created smoke at BNY , Franklin Avenue, on November 14, and the FD advised them to call repair...FD found arcing in a second floor bedroom wall unit at a Washington Ave. house on November 15 and advised residents to call an electrician for repair... A discarded cigarette butt in a soda can caused alarm on November 17, at a GC Plaza office. The cigarette was right under the alarm...
