Submitted By the Committee To Save St. Paul's

The Committee to Save St. Paul's will continue its dialogue with the community at a second presentation of its proposal for the redevelopment of the Historic St. Paul's Main Building on Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Stewart School, corner of Stewart Avenue and Clinton Road. The committee recognizes that while St. Paul's is located in the center of the Village, the impact of its future use will be felt by residents from Jefferson to Grove Streets. Please join us in the Eastern section of town to hear an update of this proposal, which meets the Village criteria - development within the existing footprint of the St. Paul's building. This proposal contains no new construction for housing on the site, since the Committee to Save St. Paul's is committed to maintaining the special park-like setting and residential character of the neighborhood.

As requested by the Village's consultant, the Committee to Save St. Paul's submitted a supplemental report on November 3 that further defines aspects of its mixed use solution. The Committee's architects have prepared additional drawings that detail parking and traffic flow, and its developer continues to refine financing data. The Committee's professional team, including Stephen Tilly, Architect, and Port City Preservation, will attend the presentation to share their expertise in the historic preservation and adaptive reuse of older buildings to get them ready for 21st century uses, while holding onto their most unique features.

The Committee to Save St. Paul's believes that its practical and achievable solution has the best chance of gaining the broad public support of Village residents and their state legislators that is necessary to secure Home Rule legislation and relief from the Parkland designation. The disposition of the Historic St. Paul's Main Building should be a community choice, and people make choices based on what they know and what accommodates their needs. Please attend the December 5 presentation by the Committee to Save St. Paul's at Stewart School, and find out how this proposal might benefit you and your family.
