Easing The Transition To Kindergarten

If you live in the Garden City School District and your special education preschooler is turning five, you are invited to a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 29, specially designed to help you plan for your child's transition to kindergarten. You'll learn about the special education programs and services available through the district and how you can help ease your child from the preschool program to kindergarten. Among the topics to be addressed are evaluations, staff visitations to your child's school, and the transition from the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) to the Committee on Special Education (CSE). The school psychologist, primary school principals, the Chairperson of CPSE, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, and Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services/ Chairperson of CSE will be on hand to answer specific questions. One morning and one evening session are scheduled. The same information will be provided at each meeting. The morning meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Locust School, 220 Boylston Street. The evening meeting will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 pm. at Hemlock School, 78 Bayberry Avenue. For more information, contact Pupil Personnel Services (478-1050).
