On Saturday morning, November 4th the undefeated Garden City Trojans JV football team traveled to Bellmore to take on Mepham.
Garden City opened the scoring when Pierce Bradley caught a pass from quarterback Matt Montomery and ran along the sideline and into the endzone for a touchdown. Mepham fumbled on their next possession and Garden City recovered setting up a touchdown on a long run by Mike Wood. Garden City was ahead 14-0 and kept the lead throughout the rest of the game.
Although Mepham did stage a comeback with a few second half touchdowns, GC's defense, including an interception by Matt Nesi, prevented Mepham from taking advantage of any opportunities as the Trojans came away with a 39-22 victory and a perfect 8-0 record.
Congratulations to new head coach Seth Messier and his assistants Bob Nolan and Matt McFarland. Garden City outscored their opponents almost 300-60 in 8 games and that was the team's 40th victory in a row.
