Gabby helps make goalie Tracy Rendano's day a little easier. Garden City Division II Golden Eagles took on the West Hempstead Red Hawks last Sunday on a beautiful fall morning at the pool. The Golden Eagles seemed to have control of the game from the very beginning. About half way through the first half Katie Trimmer scored her first goal of the game on a break away. Caitlin McGuinness and Ali Rosen who were moved up from their normal defensive positions scored the second and third goals respectively. The Red Hawks were kept scoreless in the first half with great defensive play by Srey Powers, Elizabeth Malhame, Ali Rozea, Gabby Zafonte, Jill Yoo and Gabby Giannone. Before the end of the first half Katie Trimmer put in her second goal of the game.

Early in the second half Marisa Cameron scored the Golden Eagles fifth goal. During the second half West Hempstead had a few good shots that were stopped by goalie Tracy Rendano. The rest of the game exhibited good sportsmanship and great ball control by Shana Maglio, Jessie Stein, Taylor Hennig, Olivia Giordano, Alex Bruno and Catherine Dickinson.

Next Sunday the Golden Eagles face first place "power house" Albertson at 9 a.m. at Albertson.
