Lions Continue To Play Well
The U-11 Girls Lions just finished a very competitive 3 game stretch against some of the top teams in there division. The girls had to play two undefeated clubs back to back in Levittown and Albertson and a team from one of the top clubs on the island in Massapequa. The Lions first had to play an undefeated and aggressive Levittown team on there home turf. The girls played to a hard fought 2-2 tie while gaining great respect from Levittown club who had only one defeat in 17 matches this season between league and tournament games.
The girl's next had to face a very skilled and undefeated Albertson club out at Soccer Park in Plainview. The Lions played Albertson evenly throughout the match although they ended up on the short end of a 2-1 final score. The game was well played by both clubs and went down to the final whistle.
Next up for the Lions came a Massapequa club that came to Garden City with the plan of leaving with a victory. The girls gave an overall team effort and came away with a well deserved 2-0 victory. The Lions again were led by great goaltending of Hanna Fitzpatrick and Grace Parks (who both play important field roles as well). The stellar defense of Sarah Rubino, Emily Cafaro, Maddie McGuire, Erin Pfail and Meaghan Kiely and a relentless offense led by Daniella Joyce, Katie O'Neill, Kelly Tierney, Gina Timpano, Jacqueline Marino, Becky Reifler and Ally Sweeney. Congratulations to the girls on there continued success through there hard work, team play and sportsmanship.
