GCAA Junior Field Hockey Fall Roundup
The GCAA has just completed it's Fall 2006 Junior Field Hockey season. Over 90 girls in the 4th through 8th grade participated in the Sunday afternoon clinics. The clinics were run by the GCHS Varsity Field Hockey players under the direction of Kathleen & Dennis Mullins. Thanks go out to all the varsity players that volunteered their time. Special thanks go to tri-captains, Caitlin Mullins, Caroline Seery, and Elise Terracciano who were charged with organizing the program.
Three teams totaling approximately 40 5th through 8th graders also participated in the Long Island Field Hockey Association Fall League and gained valuable game experience against other clubs from Nassau County. These teams were coached by some of the varsity players under the supervision of parental coordinators Dennis Mullins, Janice Bruno, and Martin Arellano. Once again a special thanks to all involved and your commitment to field hockey is evidence as to the success of the program at the High School.
Be sure to come out and support the Garden City High School team as they play for the Long Island Championship at noon on Sunday at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. The team currently has a 39 game winning streak and is the defending New York State Champions.
