It's deja vu all over again! After winning last year's field hockey state championship, the girl's varsity team, under coach Diane Chapman, is headed to the playoffs again this year.
The team has steam-rolled through it's regular season with a convincing 16-0 record...it's latest win, over North Shore High School, ended with a 9-1 victory on Tuesday, October 24.
Senior Elise Terracciano began the game with a true hat trick, scoring the first three goals of the game. That set the pace for her teammates as Sophomore Kaila McDonnell came up with two goals and two assists. Caitlin Mullins helped with three assists and a goal of her own.
The other three GC goals of the game were scored by Juliana Nesi, Erin Brennan and Kailtyn Gallagher.
Garden City's offense kept North Shore's goalkeeper very busy as Garden City took another 15 shots while the defense limited North Shore to few scoring opportunities as Emma Quailer made 4 saves during the game.

Although this was Senior Day and their last regular season home game, seniors Michelle DiMattia, Dana Hammer, Alex Hannon, Maddie Hannon, Kaitlyn Gallagher, Caitlin Mullins, Juliana Nesi, Emma Quailer, Claire Rothschild, Caroline Seery, Elise Terracciano and Bonnie Wall aren't done yet! The team can look forward to playing again as the playoffs begin next week on Thursday, November 2nd.
