The Garden City Checkmate Sharks On Saturday, November 4th, at the Waldorf School of Garden City, the GC Checkmate Sharks will holding try-outs for the 7th/8th Grade Spring Lacrosse Team. Try-outs will will be open to all current 7th and 8th graders who reside in Garden City.

This winter the Sharks will participate in Brooks Sweet's Indoor Lacrosse League in Oceanside. The Spring season is expected to start in March with practices on Saturday and Sunday for the first 3 weeks. After school practices will start the week of March 26th with games commencing on March 31st. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy lacrosse league will start on April 1st and the Sharks are tentatively scheduled to play again at Rutgers University on either April 21st (Rutgers vs Penn St.) or May 5th (Rutgers vs UMass.) In addition to our normal competitive schedule we have lined up Duxburry Mass. to come down to Long Island on May 19th and again are scheduled to play in the round robin tournament held during the NCAA's finals weekend in Towson, MD . The commitment will also include mandatory participation in 2 summer Long Island tournaments held during the month of July.

Practices will be held after school each day as stated above. Boys will be unable to play lacrosse for both the middle school lacrosse program as well as the Sharks.

Registration will start at 2:30pm and try-outs will be held from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Rain date will be Sunday, November 5th, at the same times. All up-to-date information as well as a required registration form can be found on our website www.GCSharks.com . There will be a try-out fee of $20 for all participants to cover insurance and field costs. Checks should be made payable to Checkmate Lacrosse. All registration forms should be faxed to 888-304-7047 prior to trying out. Each player must pre-register for insurance purposes. There will be no walk ups permitted. Go Sharks!
