Thunder 8 Maroon At Massapequa

The GCAA Thunder 8 Maroon took on Massapequa's extremely tough (and big!) try-out "All-Star" squad on the Mustang's home turf field last Sunday, Sept. 24th. The Thunder boys played GREAT, put their ALL into every play, HUNG TOUGH, and HAD FUN despite the 19-0 Massapequa victory.
Some Highlights:
- Great Offensive blocking on the line: Thomas Casciano, Christian Coppola, Ryan Galioto, Ian Guarino, Joseph Como, Philip Puccio, Brendan Schick.
-Many different Thunder ball-carriers gained yards: Luke McDaid, Timmy Schmelzinger, John Wotczak, Marc Prevete, Scott Kiley, Sean Coughlin, Max Webster, Brian Haeffner, John Simmons.
-Timmy Schmelzinger ran the ball well and made 5 first downs, 2 of them HUGE!
-Marc Prevete was awesome on Defense as he broke through the Mustang offensive line on 2 consecutive plays to stop the Mustangs in their backfield!
-Brendan Schick made several first down-saving tackles.

-John Simmons made a HUGE touchdown-saving tackle after the Mustang runner had gotten through and was on his way to a TD!
-The Referee missed a blatant Clipping penalty on Massapequa that would have stopped the Mustang's drive but instead allowed them to score.
-Outstanding Thunder Defense stopped the extra point on 2 of the 3 Mustang TD's.
-Andrew Wood was dynamite on Defense with several KEY tackles.
-In John Wotczak's first time carrying the ball in the game, he ran for a HUGE first down!
-Great "D" by James Ostrowski, Brian Haeffner, Max Webster, Dan DeSimplicis, Kyle Thornton, Sean Coughlin, John Fanning, Stephen Moran, Howie Miller, Bobby McLoughlin, James Linehan.
-Excellent Quarter-Backing: John Simmons and Kyle Thornton.
