Blizzards Douse Flames
On a gorgeous Sunday morning, September 17 th, at Allen Park in Farmingdale, the Garden City Centennial U14 team, the Blizzards, faced off against the Farmingdale Flames. The weather, combined with a magnificent turf field made for ideal playing conditions. Their coaching staff advised the Blizzards that the turf field, would account for a fast paced game. A fast paced game it certainly was, with both teams pressing the action from whistle to whistle. Demonstrating a balanced attack, the Blizzards rotated players through different positions. The Flames defenders were often knocked back from their toes to their heels, as the Blizzards maintained a constant attack. The Blizzards eventually found the back of the Flames net in the first half. The Flames came out for the second half like a wild fire. However, with determined defense the Blizzards were able to extinguish the advancing Flames, keeping the Blizzards' net damage free and preserving the 1-0 victory.
