Chris Hourmouzis, Kyle Harder, Ryan Guarino and Joe Creighton On a day when bad weather threatened but never arrived, the Thunder Maroon 10's arrived big time, with a resounding 20-0 victory at Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore.

Physical defense combined with a potent Thunder running game set the tone from the start. The opening drive lasted longer than the entire first quarter. After 17 plays in the first 14 minutes, QB Ryan Blair took it around the right side for the TD. Blair also converted this extra point. Who's the lucky one to have him on their fantasy football team?? But this game was not about one individual player; it was about a total team effort, up and down, backwards and forwards.

After the opening touchdown, the Thunder defense got to work. This defense is stingier than a four year old with a juice box. Defensive linemen Joe Creighton, Kieran McGoldrick, Cameron Kern and Anthony Zinga were hitting hard and often. Defensive ends Preziosi and Mike Keating pressured the Bellmore QB into several rushed passes. One of those passes was picked off by strong safety Richie Mattone. When asked how he always seems to be around the ball, Rich replied, "I just relax and let if flow, man."

QB Blair crosses the plane.
QB Blair crosses the plane. Offensive linemen Kyle Wein, Tom Leggett, Chris Hourmouzis and Marty Waters fired off the line, opening up huge holes for the running backs. Anthony Preziosi had another big day, running for big yards and catching a screen pass for a second half touchdown.

In a game with too many highlights to mention, running backs Michael Randazzo, Kyle Harder and James Lark kept the pressure on Bellmore, and Ryan Guarino made some nice runs from the QB position in the second half that got the Thunder down into Bellmore territory for their third score of the day.

Jack Anesner, Samer Bendery, Jack Kennelly, Joe Leto and Albert Souissis all played with grit and determination. JP Moran was asked how it felt to get that first victory, and JP shouted, "Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!" These players know how to play and have fun, and that's what football is all about.

Next week's game is Sunday 12:30 at Stewart, against Long Beach. Let's hope for winning streak.
