"The Future of Schools, Schooling, And Community Partnerships"
To celebrate the naming of the Adelphi University Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, the School will host its first Ammon symposium on "The Future of Schools, Schooling, and Community Partnerships" on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Administrators, principals, teachers, parents, business leaders, elected officials, and school of education deans and faculty are invited to join a distinguished panel of experts to address pressing issues facing K-12 teachers and universities, including the need to close yawning achievement gaps among students. This event is supported by the Robert F. and Augusta Finkelstein Memorial Lecture in Elementary/Secondary Education. Panelists: Carol A. Ammon School of Education is dedicated to providing students with the skills and techniques necessary to meet the challenges of teaching and working in a complex, multicultural society. The School's innovative curriculum combines liberal arts and sciences with professional training and community service to provide a firm foundation for teachers and professionals in related fields.
