Msgr. John's Knights will break the welcome big news this weekend to St. Anne's parishioners
and parish area friends that popular PBS-TV, stage and recording star, Andy Cooney, touted by the press as "Irish America's Favorite Son ," will lead an all-star group of Irish performers for another "Classic Irish Christmas" show here on Friday evening, December 1, according to Grand Knight Bob Guida and Event Chairman, "Jay" Lynch.
An early sell-out crowd of over 750 fans had packed St. Anne's McCloskey Auditorium last
December 2 to welcome back Cooney who got an early start on stage as a late teen-age performer here at McCloskey with famed accordionist and band leader, Paddy Noonan more than a decade ago.
Cooney will be joined on stage by Noel Ginnity, "Ireland's Funniest Man," the "Andy Coooney Band" and the Nial O'Leary Troop's Irish Step-Dancers.
The Knights have dedicated the evening to the memory of the late, beloved Msgr. William F. Costello who, though retired, had been active at St. Anne for eight years until his sudden passing in July.
The show will benefit "Msgr. John's Knights" Scholarships and Charities.
"Msgr. John's Knights" represent Msgr. John C. Seidenschwang Council, #11836 Knights of Columbus, Garden City.
