Winthrop Announces Flu Program
As part of its on-going commitment to promote the health and well-being of the community, Winthrop-University Hospital will hold its annual Senior Citizen Flu and Pneumonia Shot Program on Monday, October 30, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Appointments are required and can be made by calling (516) 663-8301.
Held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola, the program is co-sponsored by the Nassau County Departments of Health and Senior Citizen Affairs, and Nassau University Medical Center. To be eligible for the flu vaccine, seniors must be Nassau County residents age 60 and over and his/her spouse. The pneumonia vaccine also will be offered to seniors 65 and older who are considered more vulnerable and in need of this extra protection.
Winthrop's nurses will participate in administering inoculations to seniors at two other locations as well. They are as follows:
*Mineola Community Center (Mineola residents only) - Monday, October 23, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Call (516) 746-0750, ext. 268 starting October 16 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM for an appointment.
*Garden City Recreation Center (Garden City residents only) - Tuesday, November 28, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Call (516) 465-4075 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM for an appointment, Monday through Friday, after November 1.
