On September 16, in mid-afternoon, someone took an $1,000 GPS system from a Toyota parked in a driveway on Meadow Street... Between September 21 and 22, someone used a pellet gun and damaged the window of a Euston Rd. house. $225 in damage... Also between September 21 and 22, a Nextlink Acer computer system valued at $2,000 was removed from a room at St. Anne's School... Between September 19 and 20, someone damaged a 2007 Toyota parked at the Medical Center on Franklin Avenue for two days straight, puncturing tires both days... On September 20 , someone burglarized a house on Hampton Road between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. A rear door was found open and approximately $10,000 in assorted jewelry was missing... Power tools valued at $4,000 were taken from a Fifth Street house between September 19 and 20... On September 24, 4:45 a.m., at Seventh Street/Cathedral Avenue, a 35-year-old Long Beach woman was arrested for alleged DWI(refusal) and for the failure to signal there. PO Conti made the arrest... PO Florio arrested a 22-year-old Massapequa woman who was observed driving without maintaining a lane at Stewart Ave./Washington Ave. on September 22, 3:55 a.m. The charge was DWI (refusal) and 2 counts of the failure to maintain a lane... PO Florio arrested a 20-year-old Westbury man for alleged DWI( .09%) at Clinton Rd. onSeptember 23... Also on September 23, at 1:22 a.m., PO Dallolio arrested a 39-year-old West Islip man for alleged DWI (.09%) and for the failure to stay in a lane at Seventh Street... On September 24 , 6:30 a.m., PO Bandl arrested a 27-year-old Dedham, Maine man for alleged DWI(.16%), no insurance, suspended registration, and for the failure to maintain a lane at Clinton Rd./Pell Terrace... PO Jacobsen arrested a 52-year-old Valley Stream man for DWI (drugs) after he allegedly followed another man to the Marine Base, Stewart Avenue, at 4:45 p.m., on September 24... On September 21 , 1:25 a.m., Police officer Jacobsen arrested a 32-year-old Rockville Centre man for alleged DWI and for the possession of cocaine, at the Marine Base... A truck stop was held at NHP Rd. on September 20. 11 trucks were inspected with 3 trucks taken out of service and 51 tickets issued... On September 23 , police aided a 14-year-old girl who was intoxicated at Harvard Street... On September 25, a Washington Avenue resident observed a man carrying a neighbor's parakeets in a cage and she alerted the neighbor who confirmed that they were stolen- with entry to the house made through a cut in a screen. Another neighbor found the culprit's getaway bicycle in her yard. After a search, police officers Colonna and Madden found the thief in the vicinity of Franklin Court and arrested the 24-year-old man for alleged burglary and attempted burglary... On September 20, in conjunction with the County Probation Dept. and Canine Unit, GC Police held a checkpoint at the Probation Office where a MADD meeting was being held for persons who had been mandated to attend as part of probation or by the order of the court. There were 7 arrests for suspended license due to DWI, 2 arrests for 3 or more suspensions of license, and 2 arrests for suspended license...
Fire Responses:
A fire in a coffee roaster occurred at a Commercial Avenue location on September 20... LIPA was notified when wires came down on NHP Rd. on September 20... On September 22, an East Drive resident noticed a flash on a service line in a yard there and called the FD, who found a deceased squirrel there. The poor creature had come in contact with a primary wire, which formed an arc with a neutral wire to the ground- and it was electrocuted...
