Blessing Of The Animals At The Cathedral

2006-09-29 / Community

The traditional St. Francis of Assisi Day Blessing of Animals will be celebrated on this Sunday, October 1, at 4 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The celebration will include the first Evensong of the season featuring special music by the Cathedral Choirs. This is a wonderful way to enjoy a bit of England right here in Garden City in a beautiful gothic style Cathedral church. All people of all faiths are welcome to join in this fun event. You are welcome with or without your pet.

For the first time this year, there will also be a St. Francis Day Fair prior to the service from 2-4 p.m. on the Cathedral's grounds. There will be a Bake Sale featuring delicious home baked goodies for you and candy and caramel apples as well as water and soda. Don't worry; the pets have not been left out! There will be Gourmet Doggie Biscuits by Sarah offered too. The Cathedral Choirs are conducting a sale of beautiful fall mums fresh from the nursery. You are welcome to come and purchase any of these items before the service.

Another special event happening that afternoon will be the kick-off sale of raffle tickets for "A Taste of Nassau County." This will offer chances to win dinners at various restaurants in Nassau County. The drawing for the winners will occur at the end of November.
