The Garden City "Patriettes" U10 girls' soccer team played an unbelievable game against the Plainedge Pride on September 16th. On a hot, Indian summer Saturday afternoon, the offensive force of Julia Biscardi, Alicia Mueller and Annemarie Kane put continued pressure on the Plainedge goalie. Margot McTiernan, Laurel Nothel and Kelsey Whitney followed with equal force and numerous shots on goal. However, time after time, the Plainedge goalie shut down the Patriettes' attack. Goalies Caitlin Kaczynski and Claire Murphy defended the Patriettes' net along with the powerful defense of Kelly McDonnell, Christie Pflume and Erin Rode. The score was 0-0 at halftime. Throughout the second half, the forceful Patriettes' offense continued to rush the net. Shot after shot was again blocked by the Plainedge goalie. With less than 5 minutes left in the second half, Plainedge got one past off the rebound from a blocked penalty shot. Although the final score was 1-0, the Patriettes played their hearts out until the last whistle blew. It was a great game and the Patriettes deserve congratulations for their excellent effort and incredible determination. Go Patrietttes!
