Thunder 10 Grey Enjoys Opening Day 24-0 Blow-Out!
Connor Tariche breaks through Franklin Square block to take 'em down, with help from Michael Collins, Cullen Minion, and Niko Vorkas.
The 10-year-olds on Jim Gerspach's GCAA Thunder Grey football team played both outstanding Offense, scoring 24 points, AND outstanding Defense, allowing ZERO points and making three fumble recoveries, in their Season Opener Sunday, Sept. 10th in Franklin Square.
The GC Grey boys played hard and smart from start to finish. Well-executed plays and water-tight blocking allowed the GC runners to continually gain yardage and score 4 touchdowns. The Thunder Defense proved impenetrable, as great hitting and tackling halted Franklin Square's drives, many times with four straight downs.
This 10 yr. old year is the first year for Special Teams; GC's Kicking Team and Receiving Team both handled the job flawlessly, and had a lot of fun with it!
Thanks to the coaches for their commitment, hard work and long hours in getting this team ready for the season; it has obviously paid off! Thanks, Head Coach Jim Gerspach and Coaches Brian Collins, Jim Connolly, Pat Goulard, and Rich Magdich. You guys are so terrific, and the players respect you (or should I say "fear" you - ha ha) like you wouldn't believe!!
GC Defense was outstanding all day; Brett Stewart and David Gage assist with the tackle as Michael Collins hangs for dear life to the runner's shirt!
Thunder 10 Grey is playing Saturday night, Sept. 16th at Hicksville under the lights at 6 p.m. Come on out and cheer on the Boys of Grey!! They are:
