Tuesday's Children Club members Nicole Luttinger and Diana Lahrer with Ms. Scarantino To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the devastating events of September 11, 2001, the High School English Department requested that students participate in a program sponsored by Tuesday's Children.

Tuesday's Children, established after the tragedies of 9/11, balances fun family events with innovative programs directing the entire family, child, parent and surviving spouse, comfortably toward a strong tomorrow. The Garden City High School Chapter of Tuesday's Children volunteer their help in programs such as skating parties, holiday events and mentoring for kids.

Members of the Tuesday's Children's Club at the High School, along with many other students, performed acts of kindness to honor the victims of 9/11. Upon completing the act of kindness, each student filed out a pledge card which was then placed on the wall near the main office. Some of the acts of kindness were: helping a younger sibling with homework, doing yard word for an elderly neighbor, helping mom around the house and being kind to those less fortunate.
