Community Club To Host Executive Chef

The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead, Inc. cordially invites its members and guests to their October 4th General Program, at 1:30 p.m., at the Garden City Casino, where Steven DeBruyn, Executive Chef of the Garden City Hotel will prepare an afternoon tea for our enjoyment.

Chef DeBruyn has been part of the Hotel's culinary team since 1994. Under his guidance, the hotel's award-winning cuisine has further enhanced its established reputation as a world-class venue for dining and lavish culinary events. Currently, Chef DeBruyn oversees all food preparation, including in-room dining. Conference Services, Banquets, the Rein Bar & Bistro and the elegant Polo Restaurant. He has also taken on the role of Wine Director, personally overseeing the selection of The Polo Restaurant's spectacular wine collection, which has recently been granted Wine Spectator magazine's Award of Excellence for the second year in a row. In addition, under the Chef's supervision, the culinary staff has been bestowed the 2004 Pastry Chef of the Year award from Paris Gourmet and a Gold Medal for Best Wedding Cake at the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique International Competition. In 2004, Chef DeBruyn was also selected as one of the world's finest chefs, receiving the international 5 Star 5 Diamond Award of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.

Prior to his current position at the Garden City Hotel, DeBruyn served as Executive Sous Chef for numerous Club Med properties throughout the world. A native of Belgium, Chef DeBruyn is the former Chef de Cuisine at the Parisian Restaurant Jean Claude Ferrero in France, and received the honor of Best Junior Chef of Belgium shortly after graduating from Ter Duinen Culinary School.
