The 2006 Garden City Varsity Volleyball Team took First Place at the Annual Cold Spring Harbor Volleyball Tournament held last Saturday, September 9th.

The girls went 15-1 for the day, dropping only one game to Bethpage, which brought them to playoffs as the first seed. The Garden City team went on to beat Bethpage in playoffs and took First Place in the tournament.

Laura Haynes was named All-Tournament MVP. Laura had the distinction of playing at the USA National Junior Olympic Championships in Atlanta, GA this summer, as well as being chosen to play at the Empire State Games in Rochester.

Jenna Kirschner and Jackie Bishop were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

The varsity team, under the direction of Coach Phil Opinante, is looking forward to another great season this year. They beat Seaford 3-0 in a non-league game and they trounced #2 seed West Hempstead, 3-0 on 9/11.

Let's keep our eyes on them! Way to go girls! Keep up the good work!
