The Garden City "Blizzards" U14 girl soccer team embarked on another season of soccer. Led by coaches Ed Aldrich, Mary Jean McCarthy and Doug Singer, the club looks forward to the challenges and good times ahead. In the pre-season Ref-Fuel Tournament, the Blizzards, playing in monsoon-like conditions, performed extremely well. Playing five games, the Blizzards gave up only 2 goals and had 4 shutouts. The two goals were given up during their only loss and although the Blizzards tied for the best record with that team, 1st place was decided on head to head competition. Thus, the Blizzards were awarded Second Place. The Blizzards demonstrated remarkable teamwork and displayed impressive chemistry, having added several new faces to the line up this season. It was a testament to the players' hard work and the coaches' preparation. As always, the Blizzard team displayed good sportsmanship and had lots of fun.
