On the evening of August 24 at Mineola's Piccola Bussola restaurant, the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club presented its 16 th annual Community Service Award to William Gresalfi and Gary Mazur, two extraordinary firefighters who have gone the extra mile in their service to both the Mineola Fire Department and to the Village of Mineola over the past 30 years.
A legion of Rotarians, family and friends of the honorees gathered for a festive and memorable evening - also in tribute to the late Ann Galante, beloved past Mayor of Mineola and a great Rotarian. The Community Service Award also commemorates the volunteerism and spirit of Rotarian Maurice Kirby, for whom the Community Service Award was established in 1991, and later, for his wife Kay as well. The award alternates annually between the Villages of Garden City and Mineola.
