Incoming ACS President Beth Mercadante with her Executive Board, Cynthia George & Katie Rogers The Garden City Unit of the American Cancer Society is delighted to announce that Beth Mercadante has been installed as our incoming President. Beth began her tenure by thanking outgoing President Patty Scott, and then introduced Cynthia George and Katie Rogers, her Executive Board.

Our unit has a wonderful calendar of events which we hope to share with you. Some of the upcoming gatherings include "Tastings 2006", a huge outdoor party to be held Friday, September 15th at 7:00 pm in the Ranieri's magnificent garden at 105 Hilton Avenue, the Fall Luncheon to be held Tuesday, October 3rd beginning at 10:30am at the Cherry Valley Country Club, and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to be held the morning of Sunday, October 15th at Jones Beach.

Later events in our calendar include the Christmas Card, Daffodil Days, the Phantom Ball, and the Garden City Kitchen Tour, which will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2007.

These events provide an opportunity to see friends and have fun, all while fighting a disease that has touched all of our families in some way. The American Cancer Society's goals are to reduce cancer fatalities by 50%, reduce the incidence of cancer by 25%, and to improve the quality of life for people afflicted with the disease.
