Chief John Casey and Ex-Chief Rich Chiarello discuss safeguarding overturned vehicle. On Monday August 28, Garden City firefighters were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with a rollover and possible car fire in front of 500 Old Country Rd. near Clinton Rd. Responding were units Engine 143, Heavy Rescue 146, Officer 148, Chief 1400 and Chief 1401. Units arrived on scene and observed a sport utility vehicle that had been involved in a two car motor vehicle accident, causing it to roll over onto its side. Fortunately, there was no entrapment and the vehicle was not on fire. The sport utility vehicle had one victim that was self-extricated at the scene. Garden City Firefighters assisted in safeguarding the scene and vehicles as well as providing medical care to the SUV operator until Nassau County Police EMS arrived on scene.
