Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On August 24, a 17-year-old Garden City male allegedly threatened a 34-year-old Garden City man with a knife at Field 7 S at 11:45 p.m. PO Dallolio made the arrest and charged the man with menacing. Bail was posted... A woman described as Hispanic between the ages of 40 and 50, allegedly left the scene of a burglary at First Street in Garden City, which occurred between 8:20 and 8:35 a.m., on August 23. A Tiffany silver set, a tureen and antique Chinese vases , with a total value of over $27,000, were the items stolen... Between August 18 and 23 , someone stole a $1500 HP laptop from a business at Franklin Avenue... On August 24, a $400 Schwinn mountain bike was stolen from the side of a Poplar Street house... On August 15 , a $500 tool set, a power washer, and a weed trimmer were taken from a garage at Magnolia Avenue... Someone damaged a $500 window to a 2005 Nissan Altima, parked on Locust Street... On August 26 , police conducted a seatbelt stop at Nassau Blvd. and there were 20 tickets issued for seatbelt violations; one for other... On August 23 , a truck stop was conducted at Washington Avenue, and 7 trucks were inspected with 40 tickets issued...

Fire Responses:

A rubbish fire occurred at Field 6 E on August 23... Natural ventilation was used to dissipate smoke coming from a smoke machine at the GC Hotel on August 25... Steam from a shower activated a smoke alarm at a Garden Street residence on August 25... Batteries in a carbon monoxide detector were replaced by the FD at a Ninth Street house on August 26... A 2004 Jeep overturned on August 28, and firemen aided with the overturned car and cleaned the street there...That's all this week. G. T.
