The cast of "Sponge Bob Square Pants." Eighth-grade students in Mrs. Porter's classes recently performed TV shows in Spanish. They spent three weeks working in groups of one to six students writing the scripts for their shows, and three weeks rehearsing their parts.

The day of the performance students dressed in costumes, brought in props and played the theme music to their shows. This was the first year that they performed live on stage in the middle school auditorium. The shows were videotaped by Mr. Lee. Some of the shows performed were: "Seinfeld" (the famous Soup Nazi episode), "Dora the Explorer," "Sponge Bob Square Pants," "Bill Cosby's Kids Say the Damnedest Things," "Punked," "What You Should Not Wear," "QVC the Home Shopping Club," "Family Guy," "The Fresh Prince of Belair," and the "News."

The students gave an outstanding presentation and were excited to be performing live on stage for their peers. This was an excellent activity for the Spanish students to practice their listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish.
