The pool's 50 th anniversary weekend celebration will take place from July 21 through July 23. Enjoy a three day vacation right here at the Garden City Pool

Friday, july 21st

Elvis & A Movie

6 to 10:30 p.m.

Steve Mitchell performs as Elvis singing the greatest hits made famous by "The King." Prizes will be awarded, in different age categories. for best 50's costumes and best hula-hoopers.

The Blockbuster hit movie "Grease" staring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John follows the concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy the .99 cent menu at the snack bar. Please note the snack bar will close at 5 p.m. to set up for this event and reopen at 6 p.m. During the movie, popcorn and select items at the ice cream stand will cost only 50 cents each.

Saturday, July 22nd

Water Carnival Day

3 to 8 p.m.

Jugglers, face painting, carnival games, prizes, inflatable rides and a concert by "The Raves" will highlight the days events. earn tickets at each game you try and redeem them at the game room for toys and prizes. The games and rides will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. in the west end. Tickets can be redeemed in the game room from 6 to 8 p.m. The ice cream stand will remain open during the carnival. In addition to ice cream, snow cones and cotton candy will be available for purchase.

sunday, july 23rd

Doo Wop Revival

2 to 4 p.m.

"The Clusters" perform pool side while you enjoy a refreshing dip in one of our inviting pools or just sit back relax and listen to some of the best songs of the 1950's. In th event of rain on Saturday, July 22 nd the water carnival will be held on Sunday, July 23rd following the Doo Wop show.

So come on down and help celebrate the milestone of 50 exciting years of "Fun in the Sun" right here at the beautiful Garden City Pool.

tuesday night movie

On Tuesday, July 18, our feature film will be "DOOGAL." Based on the British Cult tv animated series in the late 60's. this adventure follows a group of friends who embark on a dangerous journey in an effort to re-capture their oppressor - the evil wizard zeebadee. This movie is rated G and has a running time of 85 minutes, and will be shown in the picnic area beginning at 8:30 p.m. Admission to the movie is $1 for all pool members, and $2 for non-resident guests of members. Please note that Garden City residents who are not pool members are not permitted to attend the movies.

for your convenience, the snack bar and good humor stand will remain open during the movie, and popcorn will be on sale in the picnic area for $1 per cup.

Children under 13 must be accompanied to and during the movie by an adult.

Please note: in order to sep up for the movie the picnic area will close at 7 p.m. on movie night. Additionally, anyone causing a disturbance during the movie will be removed from the pool.

swim team news

The first week of the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference was a successful one for the pool swim teams. The Division 1 team beat Newbridge. While the Division IV team beat Christopher Morley. this Saturday, July 15 the Division 1 team will travel to the Clinton G. martin Pool. The Division IV team hosts the Wantagh Park team both meets begin at 8:00 a.m. and pool 2 will be closed until the conclusion of the Division IV meet.

swim to fight cancer friday, july 14

Line up your sponsors and swim laps to fight cancer with Swim Across America Sponsor forms are available in the pool office. The swim-a-thon will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 14.

parents night dance saturday, july 15

By popular request, we have added a night just for parents, aunts, uncles or for any member who is over 21 years old. Music and dancing plus some special offerings from the snack bar will highlight the evening's festivities. Regular guest fees and restrictions will apply.

senior citizen day monday, july 17

The pool will be open on Monday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for senior citizens only. On Monday, July 17 the featured entertainment will be the "Paul Cuneo Quartet." The snack bar will feature half price items from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
