Constance Cornwell

Constance Cornwall Constance Campbell Cornwell, a 53 year resident of Garden City, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2006. Born in Old Westbury, Connie and her three sisters were raised in Port Washington. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps, graduating from Adelphi College School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1945. She married John W. Cornwell III and they moved to Garden City in 1953, raising their three children here. Ms. Cornwell was a member of the Cathedral of the Incarnation, an active volunteer in the community and PTA, and a member of the Garden City Pool since the opening day. An accomplished swimmer, she helped to organize and performed in the pool's annual water ballet. Mrs. Cornwell was a long time member of the Cherry Valley Club, serving as Chairman of the Ladies 18 Hole Golf Group for several years. In 1989 she became one of the first residents of the Wyndham Condominiums in Garden City and was actively involved there.

Mrs. Cornwell is survived by her three children, John and his wife, Angela of Huntington, NY; Pamela and her husband, Craig Rogers of Birmingham, AL; Richard and his wife, Victoria of Ridgwood, NJ. She was the cherished grandmother (Gaga) of Kelly, Brigitte, John, Andrew, Paul, Kimberly, Richard, Peter and Christopher. She is also survived by her devoted companion and twin sister, Millicent (Billie) Campbell of Garden City.

Following a funeral service at the Cathedral of the Incarnation on May 26, Mrs. Cornwall was interred at the Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.
