Dr. Feirsen spoke about the important relationship between the school district and the community. He also referred to information that indicates that many people return to Garden City so that their children can attend the Garden City Schools.
In the meeting Dr. Feirsen addressed Realtors questions and concerns regarding the Garden City School System. He provided a summary of information about student achievement on statewide standardized tests, AP exams and SAT's. Data provided during the presentation indicated that Garden City students perform at similar or higher levels than peers in comparable school districts.
He presented an overview of the district both in terms of standardized exams, scoring and alumni record as well as in other measures of school excellence such as music, arts, athletics and student safety and overall well being.
Dr. Feirsen also discussed the tremendous advantage of having three Primary Schools that provide a nurturing and welcoming atmosphere for K-1 children. He spoke abut the uniqueness of Garden City owning its own school buses and having the drivers on staff which enhances safety.
Following a question/answer session, information sheets were distributed to assist sales people in working with their customers.
Stephanie Cullum, manager of the Coach Realtors' Garden City office and host of the event thanked Dr. Feirsen and stressed the importance of continuing communication between the school district and local realtors.
