Garden City Teen Named To Honor Society At Barry Tech

Drew Tice, an aviation operations student from Nassau BOCES Barry Tech and Garden City High School, was recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).
Drew Tice, an aviation operations student from Nassau BOCES Barry Tech and Garden City High School, was recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). Honesty, service, skill and leadership- Drew Tice, a student from Nassau BOCES Barry Tech and Garden City High School, exemplifies these qualities, which are criteria for membership in the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).

Drew studied aviation operations and was among 93 young Nassau County citizens inducted into the NTHS after attending programs at the Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center (Barry Tech), operated by Nassau BOCES.

Membership in the NTHS, America's highest award for excellence in career and technical education, is based on academic achievement, community service and teacher recommendations. Inductees were honored during a recent certificate ceremony by Nassau BOCES educators, administrators and board members for an audience of families, friends and school district representatives.

"By choosing to learn at Barry Tech from our professional staff, you have what most of your peers do not-a head start towards a successful career," said Ms. Gene Silverman, Executive Director of Career and Technical Education, to the accomplished teenagers.

Barry Tech is the state-of-the-art career and technical education center that Nassau BOCES operates for high school students in Nassau County. Students spend part of their day studying one of more than two dozen career fields, including aviation, auto repair, veterinary science, construction, computer technology, culinary arts, video production and biotechnology/medical lab technician.
