Chorister Auditions

2006-06-23 / Community

A great opportunity is available for children who enjoy music-making in a fun, nurturing, and structured musical environment. The Cathedral of the Incarnation is pleased to announce that vocal auditions for potential girl and boy choristers for next fall are being held now through the end of June. No prior musical training is necessary - only an interest in music and a willingness to learn - for boys age 8-11 and girls age 9-13.

Modeled on the great cathedral choirs of England, the Cathedral Choirs provide an unparalleled musical experience for children, including free professional instruction; small-group training in music literacy, sight-seeing, theory and history; choir trips to England; summer choir camps across the U.S.; social events; and most of all, weekly performances of the finest sacred music in the Cathedral's unique liturgical and acoustical backdrop.

There is no tuition for the program, and no religious or denominational affiliation is necessary. You should simply be able to commit to two weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning performances.

If you and your child are interested, please call Larry Tremsky, Organist and Master of the Choirs, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, (516) 746-2955 x18, to set up an interview.
