Mother's Day At Stratford
Anthony Sikorski and his mother
Miss McCavera's second-grade class celebrated Mother's Day in their classroom with a brunch and presentation for their favorite guests. Mothers were treated to muffins made with the help of some generous fathers, a wonderful song and five terrific poems about mothers and how special they are. Children had compiled a cookbook with yummy recipes for a mother and child to make together. Each mother also received a homemade corsage and a coupon book to redeem for some help around the house.
The children had spent many weeks preparing for this memorable morning. They worked on presenting their poems orally with the use of correct pronunciation and expression. The second-graders wrote words and phrases to describe their mother. They put these phrases on special flowers that they displayed in the classroom. With all their preparation and hard work, the students gave their mothers the gift of an amazing morning together.
