Alvey The Garden City High School Environmental Club H.O.P.E. hiked through the Shawangunk Mountains in a successful effort to climb Mt. Mohonk in New Paltz, New York. While the weather looked threatening as club members left Garden City High School, skies cleared and temperatures remained cool for an invigorating hike up the 1,000+ foot Mt. Mohonk.

Scrambling over and under truck-size boulders, the group arrived at the notorious crevice trail. The crevice is a large split in a mammoth rock that forces climbers to squeeze up and through a tight squeeze of boulders before reaching the top with its magnificent views.
