Their win streak dating back two years was in jeopardy against a hard working Rams team. The Syosset boys netted the first goal of the game with precision stick work. Our boys knew they were in for a competitive game. Garden City's midfielder Joe Burdi (1G) tied the score 1-1 with a strong sweep from the top side and ripped his shot inside the pipe. Syosset answered with their own goal on a hard bounce shot to take a 2-1 lead. The GC boys quickly shot back with a goal by Carney Mahon (1G, 1A) to once again tie it up. The momentum continued for GC as attackman James Dutton (2G) let a shot fly to bringing GC to take a 3-2 lead into halftime.

Syosset came out strong and determined to keep their streak alive, scoring on a man-up situation to tie the game 3-3. Tensions grew as the two teams traded goals, with Connor McCullough (2G, 1A) scoring for GC, to end the third in a 4-4 tie. Garden City broke the game open in the fourth quarter as defenseman, Patrick Finneran (1A) , showed his speed and stick skills, as he shot downfield cradling his stick in his weak hand and switching to his strong hand to feed a wide open Dutton cross cage to finish the play top shelf. Garden City's McCullough (Charlie Hustle) and Kyle Zarriello (1G, his first of the season) added two additional goals to the scoreboard giving GC a three-goal lead. With the possibility of their win streak coming to an end, Syosset's offense fought hard but could not penetrate Garden City's goalie, Brian Hughes, shutting down their efforts with 4 saves in the period and totaled 9 for the day. The Ram's defense held tough in the period. Ryan Guarino, Ryan Scott and Danny Miller played a solid defensive game. Their efforts clearing the ball and aggressive play kept the mighty Syosset offense in check. Midfielders Connor Riedell and Will Harrington showed tremendous hustle all game. The attack team of Cameron Kern, Greg Vouzianis, Chris Hourmouzis and John Madigan kept the pressure on the Syosset defense all game. Congratulations to all the boys for a hard fought game. Final score GC 7 - Syosset 4.
