Annie Blanco (20) running the ball up field The girls played magnificent as they defeated Northport 10-5 with 8 different girls scoring goals. More importantly, eight of the ten goals were assisted.

Hannah Eilbeck opened the scoring firing shot in the lower left corner of the goal. Maggie Rogers assisted on the play. Stacy Madelmayer notched the next goal as she dodged past 2 defenders. Brianne Griffith followed with a great ground ball and a blast in the upper corner. Maddy McGuire recorded the assist. Northport scored to make it 3-1 Garden City.

Annie Blanco got the momentum right back as she won the draw and eventually scored on a hard shot assisted by Maggie. Annie dominated all day leading the team in completed passes and ground balls. The defense of Paige Lopez, Dani Durand, Molly Adams, Paige Cicchetti and Alex Riceman thwarted many Northport offensive chances.

Kristen Noonan in the goal made a great save with 1 second left in the first quarter to preserve the 4-1 lead.

The 2nd quarter saw Northport score first to narrow the score to 4-2. Maggie Rogers then made it 5-2 with a quick move to the cage. Kristen made another nice save in goal to preserve the 5-2 lead as the 2nd quarter ended.

The 3rd quarter opened with a quick goal by Northport to narrow the score to 5-3. Annie won another draw and great midfield work by Kristen Fitzsimmons and Kayla Walczyk led to a Garden City possession. Dani Durand then scored a critical goal assisted by Brianne Griffith. Annie Blanco then was rewarded for her hard work as Dani Durand assisted Annie on her 2nd goal of the day. The rest of the 3rd quarter the good sportsmanship rule was in effect due to the 4 goal lead. The defense of Alex Riceman, Stacey Madelmayer, Paige Lopez really stepped up. Lauren Garizio,2nd half goalie made a nice save before the 3rd quarter ended.

Northport would not go away as they netted the first 2 goals of the 4th quarter to make the score 7-5. Garden City's hustle and pride kick in as aggressive ground ball pick ups and very good open field passing led to 3 straight Garden City goals. The attack of Emily Gersapch, Katie McGovern and Deirdre McGrath moved the ball very well during the 3 goal output. Maddy McGuire scored first on an assist from Annie, then Casey Cullen scored on a great move assisted by Shannon Callahan. Shannon Callahan closed out the scoring on an assist by Stacy Madelmayer.
