What's Up For Young Adults At The Library
May is ripe with special events where we want to look our best. The Young Adult Department is offering a Mother/Daughter Makeover on Saturday, May 13th, from 12-2 PM. At this program conducted by certified beauty and image consultant, Rebecca Kopcienski, get eye-opening hints on hair care, skin care and make-up just in time for Mother's Day, proms, Spring Fling, Communions or any other festivity just around the corner. Two adult/young adult pairs will be chosen to receive a makeover and haircut during the demonstration. If you wish to be chosen, please do not wear makeup to the program. Don't forget your camera; there will be many photo-ops. Registration began on Monday, May 1st.
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at the Garden City Pool wouldn't be the same without the Teens and Tots Storytime. At this program the young adults of Garden City read to and do activities with children ages 2-8 years old in the picnic area of the Garden City Pool. To have this popular program continue successfully, volunteers are needed. If you are entering grades 6-12 in September you are invited to participate. If this is the first summer you will be volunteering, training sessions are scheduled for May and June. Please call the Young Adult Department to volunteer, sign up for training or for further information.
Registration for all Young Adult programs can be done in person at the Young Adult desk, by phoning 742-8405 ext. 220, or emailing mkelly@nassaulibrary.org. If signing up electronically please include name, address, phone number and grade in the message.
High School students take note. The AP, SAT and Regents examinations are sooner than you think. The Young Adult Department has multiple copies of the review books for these important tests. Come and take advantage. Juniors who are planning trips to look at colleges during Spring Vacation should start to plan their trips by studying a College Guide. There are many to choose from in the Young Adult collection.
