Free Skin Cancer Screening At Winthrop-University Hospital May 18th

2006-05-04 / Community

Winthrop-University Hospital will conduct its 14th annual Free Skin Cancer Screening on Thursday, May 18, at 222 Station Plaza North in Mineola from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Intended to provide early detection of skin cancers, the screening consists of a full-body examination conducted by a Winthrop-University Hospital dermatologist.

It is estimated that more than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year. Yet when detected and treated early, the cure rate is high - even for melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.

Screenings are free, but appointments are required and can be made by calling (516) 663-8301 weekdays from 9:00 AM - Noon.

The Skin Cancer Screening is sponsored by the Division of Dermatology, part of Winthrop-University Hospital's Institute for Family Care, in cooperation with the American Academy of Dermatology.
