The Garden City Republican Club wishes to extend an invitation to residents to join it on Wednesday, May 10, beginning at 8 PM at the Garden City Senior Recreation Center for their May meeting. This month's speaker is Timothy P. Farrell who is the Principal Liaison to New York City from the United States Department of Homeland Security, Center for Domestic Preparedness. The scope of his job entails not only the day-to-day operations of the regional training but also provides opportunity to work with emergency responders, emergency management officials as well. His specialty is Counter-terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction Crisis and Consequence Management Field.

Club member, Tom Muscarella remarked, "With so many Garden City residents working in New York City, this is an opportunity to learn first hand about recent improvements being made in the delivery of security, current technologies and greater understanding of public safety. Mr. Farrell has an impressive career since first becoming a police officer in 1981 and later was part of the elite Emergency Services Unit," he continued.

Mr. Farrell is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, and has served in the area of emergency services for over twenty years. He was a responder in 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, TWA Flight 800 in 1997, and the September 11 Terrorist attack as well. He has been called upon to develop training materials for US Department of State, International Security Counter Terrorism Training Team and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency among others.

Members of the club hope that you can attend this enlightening program. The Republican Club meets every third Wednesday of the month, 8PM at the GC Senior Recreation Center located at the corner of Eleventh Street and Golf Club Lane. Refreshments will be served.
