Garden City Senior News
The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lesson for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park Tennis Facility and will run one evening a week. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times and fees will be as follows:

To register for any of these sessions, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall to fill out an application. Our tennis pro will then set up lessons on our courts with people with like abilities. You will be e-mailed or called with your lesson assignment.
Yoga Over 50
Our spring session of Yoga Over 50 will begin on Thursday, May 18. This program is open to adults over 50 years of age who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The class will meet for six weeks from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Cluett Hall. The cost of this program is $30.

stretch And Tone Class Continues
The Recreation Department's Stretch and Tone Class, taught by Felicia Lovaglio, will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays according to the following schedule:

Monday, May 8 - heart-healthy eating, smarter is better! It's more than reading labels...it's understanding them! This workshop, led by Madeline Orland, R.D. will help you to better understand how to incorporate a variety of healthy foods into your meals to support a healthy lifestyle.
Monday, May 15 - "making informed decisions in your retirement years." Are you concerned about outliving your assets?
This workshop will discuss the necessary tools that can protect your investments and inform you so that you can make good decisions based on facts. John Appelt, certified financial planner and certified senior advisor, Ray Donnelly, certified senior advisor and Jim Hoolahan, MBA will lead this workshop with ample time for Q & A.
Monday, May 22 - line dancing with Fran Gong. This most popular workshop is back once more by popular demand. It is no wonder, since Fran is a whiz at making it easy and fun. No partner, just bring your dancing feet!
Monday, May 29 - Memorial Day - No Program
All seniors aged 60 and over who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City are invited to attend these free programs. All programs will take place during the Senior Recreation Group meeting on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at the Garden City Recreation Center on Golf Club Lane unless otherwise stated. Senior Connections Forum
Marianne Bee, RN, will be the guest speaker at the Senior Connections Public Forum in the lower level meeting room of the Garden City Public Library on Tuesday, May 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. An elevator is available to access the lower level.
This new program, known as "Senior Bridge," enables seniors to remain active and vital in their homes. Rosalind Mohr, director of information and referral for the Town of Hempstead's senior enrichment department, will also present options for home care and provide handouts. Refreshments will be served.
Cell Phones For Senior Citizens
Are you replacing your cell phone? If so, don't throw it away. Instead, bring your old cell phone to the circulation desk at the Garden City Public Library. The donated cell phones will be reworked for senior citizens to use as 911 calling devices. For further information, call Alan G. Roeckel at 742-8405.
Free Legal Consultations For Seniors
The next free senior citizen consultation clinic will be held at the Nassau County Bar Association on Thursday, May 11 from 9:30 through 11:30 am at 15th and West Streets, Mineola in the lecture room on the lower level. Advance registration is required, please call 747-4070.
Private legal consultations are given free of charge to Nassau County senior citizens, aged 65 years and older. Five attorneys with expertise in a variety of legal areas will be on hand for individual, half-hour consultations, offering guidance and recommending courses of action for the resolution of legal problems. The free clinic provides consultations only, not legal representation.
