Winthrop-University Hospital Offers FreeLecture May 10th
Winthrop-University Hospital's "Parenting Today" educational series will present a free lecture, "Living with Teenagers," on Wednesday, May 10th, at 7:00 PM. Held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard in Mineola, the program will offer parents strategies for positive discipline that can help guide teens as they search for independence.
Carmela Granata-Bernacchio, MS, Director of PACE, Parent and Child Education Center, will provide tips for reinforcing parental authority, turning teens' mistakes into lessons, and helping teens earn self-respect while reducing their sense of entitlement. The program is interactive - attendees are invited to bring questions and let the workshop address their needs.
Parking and the entrance are in the rear of the building. Admission is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve a seat, call 1-877-559-KIDS.
"Parenting Today" is a free community health education program coordinated by Children's Health Services and the Department of Pediatrics, part of the Institute of Family Care at Winthrop. For information on other programs at the Hospital, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
