'Women's Urinary Incontinence: It's Curable'

As women age, urinary incontinence is a common problem, often causing embarrassment and discomfort. However, there's no reason to suffer.

Winthrop-University Hospital's "Health Update for Seniors" educational series will sponsor a free program, "Urinary Incontinence: It's Curable" on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 1:15 PM. Held at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola, the program will address the different types of urinary incontinence and available treatment options.

Alan Garely, MD, Chief of Gynecology and Director of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Winthrop, will discuss incontinence in women, as well as review treatment options such as minimally invasive surgical procedures, medications and behavioral therapies. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

The program begins with blood pressure checks at 1:15 PM, followed by the lecture at 1:45. Admission is free, but seating is limited. To reserve your seat, please call (516) 663-3916.

"Health Update for Seniors and Their Families" is a free community health education program coordinated by Geriatric Health Services and the Winthrop Home Health Agency. For information on other programs at Winthrop, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
