Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On May 2, there was a burglary at a Stewart Avenue residence at 3:25 p.m. The resident was outside gardening, with a side door unlocked there. When the resident entered the house, she saw a woman described as mid-twenties, 5'3"tall, heavy set, with light hair, wearing a light green top and pants, exiting the house, evidently carrying jewelry taken from a second floor bedroom... On April 28, 4:40 a.m., PO Oswald arrested a 24-year-old Valley Stream man who had left the scene of a car accident on Cathedral Avenue where his car had struck a tree. He was charged with unsafe lane change, passing a red light, leaving the scene of an accident and for alleged DWI... Also that day, a 21-year-old Plainview man was allegedly DWI (.12%) at Stewart Ave./Washington Ave. The motorist had also allegedly passed red lights there... Between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on April 20, someone stole a portable navigation system valued at $600 and $20 from a car... On April 30, 3:04 p.m., PO Jacobsen observed a 23-year-old Uniondale male motorist who had disobeyed a no trucking zone near Clinton Rd. He was arrested for a prior DWI warrant, disobeying a no trucking sign, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, and aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree... A 52-year-old Baldwin woman was arrested for allegedly taking a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses, a Jones NY tank top and shirt, at Lord and Taylor on April 17...

On April 29, between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., someone stole a Kodak 6.1 megapixel camera from a room where a fashion show was being held at Adelphi University... On April 30, a 62-year-old Lynbrook woman allegedly took a $270 ABS top at Lord and Taylor... Police arrested two women at Lord and Taylor on April 20. The women were friends but allegedly stole things separately at the store.One woman, a 34-year-old from Jamaica, allegedly took over $4000 in merchandise, which included 2 pairs of Indio jeans and ABS tops. The other woman, a 34-year-old from Brooklyn, allegedly took a $59 Mimi and Coca tank top and a $190 pair of Hudson jeans... A truck stop was conducted at the Stewart Manor RR station on April 25 and 16 trucks were inspected with 51 tickets issued, 7 trucks taken out of service- 1 for overweight... Sgt. Pedersen arrested a 14-year-old for the unauthorized use of a vehicle at Field 9 E at 5:35 a.m. on April 29 and he was released to his parents...

Outdoor cooking caused smoke which migrated into an East Drive residence on April 28 and set off an alarm there... An insecticide can leaked in a garage at Kildare Rd. on May 1 and the FD responded... Speedidry was used to clean a spill at a Grove St. driveway on May 3...
