Stephanie Greco. On Tuesday, March 14, Mrs. Brunetti's fifth-year Italian students visited Homestead's first-graders. The high school students taught the six classes numbers, colors, food, weather and body parts.

The experience was fun and educational for both sets of students. The first-graders confirmed that young children learn languages faster than older students. The "student teachers" learned how difficult it is to make lessons fun and informative, as well as how crucial it is to be patient and yet supportive and encouraging. They demonstrated leadership qualities when keeping the young students' attention long enough to convey knowledge.

All the first-graders were very well-behaved and receptive. They were not only excited, about they also learned very quickly and wanted to show how much they remembered.

The day was a success, and it ended with everyone gathering in the multi-purpose room, where the high school students led the assembly in an Italian song.
