Buckley Students Launch Virtual Visit Down Under!
Buckley third grader Lee Bono of Garden City eagerly prepares for his trip to the Australian Outback with his survival kit, map, and boomerang. No worries, mate! This spring, Buckley Country Day School's third grade students were well prepared for their Internet trip across the world to study Australia. Leading the way on their student-created award-winning WebQuest, entitled "W.W. Australian Jeep Tours" or "How I Got Lost in the Land Down Under," tour guide Willy Wallaby introduced the students to the study of the Aborigine people, unique animal life, landforms, and the coral reef.
Students also collected photographs and artifacts in preparation for their trip, along with all the necessities for their Outback Survival Kits. This exciting adventure was one part of the Buckley social studies curriculum, which integrates technology, art, and the enrichment program in teaching children how biomes affect the nature of cultures around the world.
