The Auxiliary of Clark Botanic Garden invites members of the community to come to its annual plant sale on Friday, May 12 and Saturday May 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Unusual perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs as well as wildflowers and vegetables. The Garden is located at I.U.Willets Rd. in Albertson...On Friday, April 28, the Irish American Society's Annual Spring Fashion Show will be held at the Center, 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola, 7 p.m. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a champagne punch with fashion show and shamrock auction at 8 p.m. Fashions by Estelle's Dressy Dresses and Dress Barn. Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On April 25, 7:20 p.m., PO Conti arrested a 21-year-old Rockville Centre man for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, no insurance, and for a defective brake light, at Clinton Rd... A burglary occurred at a Rockaway Avenue residence on April 24 between 12:45 and 2:15 p.m. A kitchen window was found open and an undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from a second floor bedroom... On April 25, between 3:50 and 4:45 p.m., someone forced open a French door and took an undetermined amount of jewelry from a living room area at a Second Street residence...PO Walsh and PO Tuohy apprehended a 24-year-old homeless man at Ninth Street after the man had stolen a gift jar containing money from the Quizos Sandwich Shop, Franklin Avenue...Between April 14 and 22, unknown persons threw rocks and broke a second floor window at a Second Street house; damage was $1000...Unknown persons stole a 2002 Acura RSX valued at $20,000 from Hempstead Lincoln Mercury, between April 22 and 23...

Two 19-year-old men from Elmont allegedly stole a pair of Grant Thomas slacks and various designer ties at Lord and Taylor on April 22...On April 19, a truck stop was conducted at Clinton Rd. during the afternoon. 7 trucks were inspected with 27 tickets issued and 1 truck taken out of service; 1 for suspended license... On April 21, for the entire day, there was a truck stop held on Clinton Rd. where 12 trucks were inspected with 4 trucks taken out of service and 63 tickets issued...

Fire Responses:

An alarm was activated at Nassau BOCES, Stewart Ave., on April 19. Toast in an oven was the cause...Speedidry was used to clean up after an accident occurred at Nassau Blvd./Merillon Ave. on April 19. There were two victims that had been trapped in a car in the embankment there but EMS had already removed them...A puff back from a water heater occurred at Stewart School on April 21 and natural ventilation removed smoke...A light fixture on a chandelier popped and a shade caught fire at a Carteret Place residence on April 21. The fire was out before FD arrival...There was a roof leak that caused alarm at the GCHS on April 23. Water had triggered the smoke alarm there...

A health aide triggered an alarm with her cooking at a Seventh Street apartment on April 23...A Brompton Rd. resident complained that his wife was having headaches and asked that the carbon monoxide levels be checked at the house on April 24. An alarm had also been triggered there but it was later learned that the couple's two-year-old daughter had pushed the test button...A Garden Street resident smelled something burning at the residence on April 24 and wiring on a bath fixture that was melting, was found. The fixture was disconnected...A maid locked herself out of a Stewart Avenue residence on April 24. She requested FD assistance because she had left the house with the oven turned on and an invalid occupant inside...
