Kara Kelly Receives News 12-Citibank Scholar Athlete Award

Kara Kelly has been named a News 12-Citibank Long Island Scholar Athlete. This award is for all-around achievement, scholarship, athletics, leadership and school service. The award is presented to seniors chosen from all high schools on Long Island.

Kara has a weighted average of 94, and has been on the Principal's List for three consecutive years. On the field, Kara is the backbone and captain of the Garden City soccer and lacrosse programs. Her hard work and dedication in soccer was reflected in an All-County honor that she received this past season. As an Honorable Mention All-American and All-County player, she led the lacrosse team to a New York State tournament last season. Over the summer, Kara was an integral part of the Long Island Empire State team, who earned the Silver Medal at the games.

This outstanding role model and leader will continue her path of excellence at Brown University, where she will play Division I lacrosse and pursue a degree in medicine. Kara is an elite and well-rounded individual who Garden City is proud to have representing its great tradition of excellence. Congratulations to Kara on winning this prestigious award.
