The Garden City High School Rifle Team recently completed an outstanding 2006 season. After a successful 2005 season, the team was moved up to the highly competitive Dave Pike Division. The team responded to the challenge by finishing with a 7-1 record and qualified for the Nassau County Team Championship Match! In this final match, Garden City tied Valley Stream for first place. Scoring officials had to go to a second tiebreaker procedure before declaring Valley Stream the winner.

The team received recognition for its accomplishments at the Nassau County Coaches Association Awards dinner on March 30th. Senior team captains Mark Alfieri and Steve Rudolph received 2nd team All -County awards. Junior captain Joe Daly received 1st team All- County honors. In the Individual Championship standings, seniors Adam Burak and Steve Rudolph finished 2nd and 5th in the county-wide competition.
