Mrs. Patricia Ann "Pam" Morano, age 64, of 12425 Draco Rd., Raleigh NC 27614 and 23-year resident of Maple St., Garden City, NY died April 17, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Russell Harry Maley and Vivian Ruggery, both of Queens, NY.

With respect to public education and local ordinances, Pam challenged much of the status quo in order to improve processes, facilities, worker benefits, and overall quality and standards. Holding several public positions with many responsibilities over a span of three decades, and culminating with her tenure as Garden City School Board President from 1994-1998, she was dedicated to the advancement of public education and community development. Pam was also a columnist for the Garden City News, authoring "Letters From Pam" for several years prior to her election to the School Board.

Mrs. Morano is survived by her husband, Anthony J. Morano, two sons, Thomas S. Morano, his wife, Carol, and their daughters, Olivia and Gillian, all of Charlotte, NC., and William R. Morano, his wife Sheri, and their son, Peter all of Durham, NC., and two sisters, Barbara Maley of N. Raleigh, NC., and Darnell Securcher and her family of Wake Forest, NC.
